Founding Member of Technical Staff, AI

ABOUT THE ROLE Join an early-stage commercial insurance technology company as its first engineer. You will work directly with the founder to establish the engineering foundation and build AI systems that streamline insurance workflows for small and medium businesses. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build browser-use agents to automate insurance workflows. - Develop voice AI for interactions with clients and insurance carriers. - Create long-horizon LLM pipelines and robust evaluation frameworks. - Build carrier integrations and AI-powered quoting and submission workflows. - Develop AI agents for policy analysis and document processing. - Own systems end to end and help shape the technical direction from the ground up. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Between 0 and 5 years of software engineering experience, with strong engineering fundamentals in system design, clean code, and debugging. - Hands-on experience building production LLM, AI agent, or voice AI systems, including LLM evaluation frameworks. - Experience with Python or TypeScript; familiarity with LangGraph, browser-use agents, or autonomous agent frameworks is relevant. - Ability to build and own systems from 0 to 1 in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment. - Experience as an early-stage founding engineer or at an established technology company. - A computer science or engineering degree and a strong technical foundation. - Background in insurtech, fintech, or healthcare technology, and AI or machine learning open-source contributions, are relevant. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary is $150,000 to $225,000 annually, depending on experience, plus meaningful founding-team equity. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, California.
