Java and Spring Boot Developer - Assistant Vice President

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities. We are seeking an experienced Java and Spring Boot Developer (Assistant Vice President) to join our Enterprise Technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices and database-driven applications while leveraging modern AI development tools (such as GitHub Copilot and Devin) to optimize the software engineering lifecycle and accelerate delivery. Key Responsibilities - Application Engineering: Design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and resilient microservices using Java (11/17/21) and Spring Boot . - APIs & Messaging: Develop RESTful APIs and integrate event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka . - Database Management: Write, tune, and optimize complex SQL queries , data schemas, and transactional workflows across Oracle and PostgreSQL . - AI-Assisted Development: Leverage modern AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot , Devin ) to accelerate code generation, refactoring, unit testing, and documentation. - Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with architects and product teams in an Agile environment and mentor junior engineers. - Risk & Quality: Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies, secure coding standards, and rigorous code reviews. Qualifications - Experience: 8+ years of hands-on enterprise backend development experience in Java. - Core Stack: Expert in Java , Spring Boot , Spring Data / Hibernate , and Microservices Architecture . - Databases: Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database design/tuning ( Oracle or PostgreSQL ). - Messaging: Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or enterprise messaging systems. - AI & Emerging Tech: Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot , Devin , or similar coding assistants. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
