We are building the energy and infrastructure future—today. Come join us in accelerating the energy and infrastructure transition! Overview The Project Manager (PM) leads SB Energy’s utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage system (BESS), and combined PV+BESS projects from mid-stage development through construction, commissioning, and handoff to Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance (O&M). The PM maintains continuous ownership of project scope, budget, schedule, risk, and team performance throughout this lifecycle, including associated substation and transmission scopes. As the leading authority on the project as a whole, the PM understands how technical, commercial, regulatory, and financing requirements fit together. The PM integrates functional expertise, resolves gaps, and drives decisions within delegated authority, obtaining required reviews and approvals. This role requires both directing the team and personally performing the analysis and work within the PM’s scope. Standard of Performance PMs are expected to demonstrate excellence in five areas: · Project mastery and ownership. Know the project’s obligations, budget, schedule, and risks. Anticipate dependencies, set priorities, and follow commitments through to completion. · Leadership and judgment. Remain calm, curious, honest, and responsive. Hold people accountable with respect, seek expertise, and make sound decisions under uncertainty. · Team experience and culture. Provide accurate, concise reporting; surface issues early with viable options and a recommendation; make required leadership decisions clear. · Consistent results and improvement. Advance the project, learn from outcomes, and improve how the team works. Responsibilities · Project readiness and execution planning. Take ownership in mid-stage development, assess inherited commitments and assumptions, and establish or carry forward the integrated execution plan and Plan of Record. Keep both current as the project advances. Connect site control, permitting, interconnection, engineering, procurement, financing, and construction prerequisites, with clear owners and required dates. · Schedule and progress. Develop and maintain the integrated project schedule, assess critical path and dependencies, and challenge contractor logic and production assumptions. Compare baseline and updated schedules with three-week lookaheads, production data, S-curves, and field conditions. Identify gaps, require credible recovery plans, and verify results. · Budget and forecast. Own the project budget and estimate-at-completion (EAC) forecast. Understand cost allocations, commitments, actuals, remaining scope, contingency, and financial exposure. Reconcile inputs with Finance and functional owners, explain variances, and oversee invoice, payment application, and construction loan draw reviews. · Contracts and commercial management. Support negotiation and execution of EPC, owner-furnished equipment, and consultant agreements with Legal and functional leads. Manage limited and full notices to proceed, scope interfaces, contractual obligations, notices, change orders, and claims through closeout. Evaluate entitlement, cost, and schedule effects and secure required approvals. · Risk and decisions. Maintain an active risk register with accountable owners, mitigation plans, and timely escalation. Reconcile financial exposures with the forecast, distinguish risks from current issues, and assess opportunities to improve project outcomes. Document decisions and close actions. · Construction leadership. Set priorities for Construction Managers and manage EPC contractor performance. Coordinate engineering, equipment deliveries, and work readiness. Maintain regular site presence and firsthand understanding of progress and constraints. Work with Safety, Quality, and Engineering leads to address hazards, first article inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions. · Team leadership and coordination. Lead the cross-functional project team with clear deliverables, responsibilities, and decision paths. Direct and mentor assigned Assistant Project Managers and Project Coordinators. Run purposeful meetings, resolve competing priorities, and build a cohesive culture across office and field teams. · Stakeholders and compliance. Manage relationships with landowners, utilities, power purchasers, and authorities having jurisdiction. Coordinate required permits and approvals with functional leads and track compliance with site control, environmental, interconnection, and power purchase obligations through completion and turnover. · Financing and reporting. Coordinate project deliverables for financial close, construction funding, and subsequent financing milestones with Capital Markets, Finance, Legal, and the Independent Engineer. Maintain the Plan of Record, project records, and required systems, including Monday.com, and provide timely reports that explain performance, outlook, and decisions needed. · Commissioning and completion. Integrate mechanical completion, energization, synchronization, testing, and commercial operation into the execution plan. Coordinate milestone prerequisites and acceptance evidence with commissioning leads, contractors, utilities, and financing stakeholders; verify requirements against the governing project documents. · Operational handoff and closeout. Engage Asset Management and O&M early and lead documented turnover and acceptance. Deliver as-built records, test results, permits, warranties, spares, and training. Close contracts and punch lists, or agree owners and dates for residual work, remaining obligations, and risks; retain responsibility for assigned closeout actions. Professional Development Complete assigned training, coaching, and applied project work through SB Energy’s PM development program.
